European fund for SME's - 2026
On February 02, 2026, the European Union has launched a new support fund to help small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) based in the European Union to access and benefit from their intellectual property (IP) rights.
Open to all companies in the EU that fit the official definition os SME,the new program offers financial support for trademark, patent, and design/model registration applications, allowing SMEs to obtain partial refunds of official fees.

World Intellectual Property Day
World Intellectual Property Day, known as "world IP" or "WIP-Day", was celebrated once again on 26 April 2025, with the aim of spreading the word about the enormous importance of intellectual property for the creation and vitality of art, as well as for technological development.
This date celebrates the contribution of creators, inventors and entrepreneurs who create, innovate and develop contributions that promote the progress of humanity.
To mark and promote this day, awareness-raising activities are held to raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property in the context of protecting knowledge and economic development.
Designs - New UE Legislation
On 18 November 2024, the EU's new package of design legislation was published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will enter into force on 8 December 2024.
This new package adopted by the European Parliament and the Council is made up of the Regulation (EU) 2024/2822 (which will apply from 1 May 2025, subject to a few exceptions) and the Directive (EU) 2024/2823 on the legal protection of designs, which is expected to be transposed by 9 December 2027.
The new legislation aims to simplify, modernise and harmonise the systems for the legal protection of designs in all EU countries. The new legislation allows the concept of designs to be adapted to the market and digital reality, as well as to new technologies.
